William R. Slaughter

For 38 years, Randy Slaughter has been a nationally prominent executive and consultant in the entertainment industry. His expertise and accomplishments have been earned in virtually every aspect of independent film including acquisitions, distribution, exhibition, sales, marketing, and the arranging of third-party licensing into domestic ancillary and international markets.

Mr. Slaughter is Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Rocky Mountain Pictures, Inc. [formerly named R.S. Entertainment], a leading US provider of distribution and marketing services to the independent film industry. RSE has released over 150 theatrical titles for approximately 50 client companies. In January 2006 it released END OF THE SPEAR on 1,100 screens, generating $13 million at the box-office. Another national release in 2006, was ONE NIGHT WITH THE KING which generated approximately $14 million at the U.S. box-office. In 2007 Rocky Mountain Pictures released REDLINE on over 1500 screens and followed that up with THE TEN COMMANDMENTS for Promenade Pictures on over 800 screens. In April 2008 Rocky Mountain Pictures released the Ben Stein documentary EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed in over 1000 theatres nationally and as of July 2008 it has brought in over $7.5 million in the U.S. box-office.

From 1992 to 1999, Mr. Slaughter served as Executive Vice President of Entertainment in Motion, Inc., the largest independent distributor of entertainment for airlines and other ancillary markets.

Mr. Slaughter began his film career at American International Pictures, in 1970, as a theatrical booker. He rose to the position of Vice President, Assistant General Sales Manager for Distribution and Marketing. During the period AIP grew to become the industry’s largest and most successful independent studio. He left AIP when it was acquired by Filmways (later part of Orion Pictures), in 1979.

Through the 1980s, Mr. Slaughter worked as an executive with some of the field’s leading independent film companies. These included Avco Embassy Pictures, New World Pictures, and Spectrafilm International. He also entered the motion picture exhibition business, serving as Vice President and General Manager for Noret Theatres, an 85-screen theater group throughout the American southwest. Presently he is a partner in an 11-screen theatre complex in Galveston, Texas which continues to give him additional “in-sight” into the ever changing landscape of the theatrical distribution business.

Mr. Slaughter attended East Texas State University and the University of Texas at Arlington. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, with two tours in Viet Nam. He is an active member of the Motion Pictures Pioneers, Variety Club Childrens Charities, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is married with three children and four grandchildren.
